On 24th my plane took off from dublin airport and 2 and a half hours later I'm in venice where mum was waiting for me. The days passed quite fast, visiting friends and my little and gorgeous nephew! Then, on saturday, was EXPO time. Cool place. I bought a nice pair of tech gloves and I did a foot scan (loved it!!). Then, pizza and a early night..it goes without saying!

The morning after my dad took me to the start line and after the ritual queue to the loo, I was off!!I started with a plan, which I thought was a smart one. Since my pb was of 4:37 but my prediction was of 4:23, I was going to start with the 4:30 pacers and maybe, after half point try to leave them behind. I guess I felt strong, good training and all that, but the pacers were faster than 4:30 I think. Anyway, after 5km we were entering my village and I had to go to the loo. So I got into a pub and then I tried to catch the pacers...wrong move....I saw my parents...kissed them and caught the pacers but I was exhausted. I managed though to stay with them until km 30.

Along the route I met a good friend of mine...high point. for 18km the course was scenic and noisy with lots of support; then the tough part started at half point...industrial, dull, no support (only at times). We got to km 30, up a narrow bridge and I lost the pacers and I started to struggle. At km 32, even though I promised myself I wouldn't, I started to walk until a 'signore' said "run with me, run, at least until the next bridge. So I did, but at one point I was feeling sick and I stopped again....I walked and run from km 32 to km 38 then we were in venice....STUNNING!! 2 miles to go and 14 bridges to go; next to each bridge a sign saying "14 bridges to go, 13 bridges to go..." But i run all the way to the end where my parents were waiting for me. 4.36:30 is a good time considering that it's a pb and that, when I started walking I thought I would finish past 5 hours. But not considering my prediction time. I thought that doing 3 20 milers will have helped me, but not...I'll train harder for the next one :-)monicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02305788726884247960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8530479220997059633.post-43901116810654299382007-11-22T19:21:00.000+01:002007-11-22T19:21:00.000+01:00Questo commento รจ stato eliminato da un amministratore del blog.Laszlo Kovacshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08127528464487541531noreply@blogger.com
